Executive summary
Royal Caribbean partnered with Mint Onion via Skyword to transform cruise planning topics into engaging, search-optimized visual content. Over the course of several years, Mint Onion produced dozens of long-form infographics and interactive quizzes designed to educate travelers, guide decision-making, and perform at scale across Royal Caribbean’s content ecosystem.
Each asset was strategically structured for conversion into responsive HTML, allowing the content to live natively on Royal Caribbean’s blog alongside longform written articles and bolster SEO performance all while remaining accessible and responsive across devices. Working in close collaboration with Royal Caribbean’s internal teams, Skyword’s strategists, producers and editors and development partner Hekla, the result was a repeatable, scalable and consistent content system built for both users and search engines.

Challenge
Cruise vacations involve an overwhelming number of variables: ship classes, onboard experiences, dining options, destinations, itineraries, and traveler personas. Royal Caribbean needed a way to:
- Simplify complex information without oversimplifying the brand
- Deliver a range of content catered towards individual traveler personas
- Support organic search growth with evergreen, indexable content
- Create assets flexible enough to evolve across devices, regions, and future campaigns
- Maintain visual consistency while publishing content at volume
Solution
Mint Onion developed a modular semi-templated content system centered on long-form infographics and supporting interactive quizzes. Our content served as both an editorial engine and decision-support tool, guiding travelers towards personalized results aligned with their preferences. Each piece was designed with a dual purpose:
- Persona-driven content filtering: Longform infographics & interactive quizzes acted as soft funnels, filtering users based on inputs such as travel style, destination preferences, group composition, and onboard priorities.
- Search-optimized architecture: All infographics were strategically structured for conversion into responsive HTML, allowing them to live natively within Royal Caribbean’s blog and content ecosystem, while ensuring content remained optimized for crawlers and devices alike.
By pairing intent-filtering interactivity with SEO-first visual storytelling, Mint Onion helped Royal Caribbean move beyond one-size-fits-all content and toward a scalable personalization framework.
